Cul de Sac of Lights

I'm not sure when we started the tradition, but I think it was 2006, when Nicholas was just three years old.  We all climbed into the family truckster in our jammies and we set off on an adventure.

That is, an adventure to sing Christmas carols off key and drive through the Christmas lights with Granny and Papa.

Even though Granny and PaPa are 1200 miles away, we are carrying on the tradition on our own.  We armed ourselves with hot cocoa and coffee in the 55 degree weather (ha!) and set out on our way.

The lights were great (my picture taking was NOT).  This one particular cul de sac decorates every house to the theme of Twas the Night Before Christmas.

It is quite a sight to see and quite impressive.

But it was pretty much over before it started.

We're used to a 3 mile trail of lights so the kids were a little disappointed so we continued to drive around.  Let me just tell you there are a lot of shitty less than stellar displays out there.   I always wonder if you're going to do things half assed why do you bother at all.

The wonders of the season never cease.  Merry merry merry Christmas.  Miss you Granny!
