Ok here's the "official" explanation from The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust:
The Rubber Duck knows no frontiers, it doesn’t discriminate and doesn’t have a political connotation. The friendly, floating, four-story-high Rubber Duck has healing properties: it can relieve mondial tensions as well as define them. The duck has been on display in Amsterdam, Lommel (Belgium), Osaka, Sydney Harbour, Sao Paulo and Hong Kong and arrives in the US for the first time for the Pittsburgh International Festival of Firsts.
So yeah, it's pretty cool (but I'm not sure why) and we couldn't resist going downtown to visit the duck.
There were so many people there. It seems kind of crazy for so much excitement to be surrounding a big rubber ducky. Even Sidney wanted to see the duck. Sidney was so excited to be in the city. It was sniffing dog's dream come true. Everyone commented how cute she was.
Jack too was excited about the city. As we walked from the parking garage to the duck, he was saying "I've never seen this party of the city before, it's so cool."
We really didn't know what to do once we saw the duck. We snapped our pictures and then it was just kind of like, what's next?
We made it over to the fountain for a few other photo ops.
Then that was it. We made our way back home. VERY exciting stuff. haha On the way back, we took more pics. Go figure.
You can never see too much of my kids right?
Fine, that's all! Hope this post was all it was quacked up to be.
